MINI TENNIS SHIELD/MINI TENNIS TROPHY

DATE: 18th Jan 2017 & 19th Jan 2017

VENUE: TSLA

YEAR GROUP: YR3/4 & 5

SCHOOLS ENTERED:

Across both heats and finals the standard was high; it could have been compared to the Australian Open in Melbourne had it not been for the baltic weather conditions outside!

As the heats drew to an close our Trophy Final was decided, with the following schools competing for the JESS Cluster Mini-Tennis Trophy; Clapgate, Beeston Primary, Windmill, Low Road and Sharp Lane.

The rallies were immense on all courts with the Yr3/4 teams showing fantastic energy and enthusiasm throughout. On the Yr5 courts, the competition was fierce, with rallies of 15+ shots a regular feature!

As the fixtures came to end, the scores were calculated. All pupils left with a JESS Cluster Mini-Tennis Final certificate, but taking away the bronze medals were both Beeston Primary and Windmill, emphasising how tight the competition was! In second place, taking the silver medals with them were Low Road. Which leads us on to the winners, leaving with the gold medals (including the staff) and the JESS Cluster Mini-Tennis Trophy was Clapgate!

A huge congratulations to all schools who participated! Now onto the JESS Cluster TAG Rugby festival in February!"
