What is She Rallies?

The vision of ‘She Rallies’ is to attract and retain more women and girls tennis in the UK by inspiring and empowering a female workforce to create more opportunities for women and girls in tennis. It falls into the LTA’s four year Women and Girls Strategy, championed by Judy Murray, which aims to significantly increase female participation in tennis across the UK, by developing a female workforce. By rallying together, we’re aiming to create opportunities for women and girls of all ages and experiences to be involved in tennis.

Active Schools and the LTA- She Rallies saw 150 Girls, aged between 7-11 from 15 Schools across Leeds, attend the first She Rallies Event for the City.

Schools were invited to attend and take part in this wonderful event, hosted at the John Charles Centre for Sport Tennis Centre, taking the opportunity to bring along upto 10 ks2 girls and Female staff.

Whilst delegates received training, the event for the girls took place on the adjoining courts, which involved fun tennis activities, run by qualified coaches.

“Coaches from the Coaching Bursar Programme at Leeds Beckett University supported the Active Schools She Rallies CPD and Girls event. This provided a great experience and opportunity for the Coaches to work with large groups of children and experience the learning environment for all. The Coaches Bursar programme, provides a pathway for students to gain their coaching qualifications whilst studying, with the opportunity to become the University Tennis Co-ordinator (UTC’s) and then Head coaches with clubs in Leeds. This was evidenced, with former Coaching Bursars and UTC’s Angela Crossley and Rob Ratcliffe leading & supporting the event.

More information on the coaching bursar programme and junior programme at Leeds Beckett University can be found “
