The Special Olympics Motor Activity Training Program is designed for athletes who are unable to participate in official Special Olympics sport competitions because of their skill and/or functional abilities. The Motor Activity Training Program is designed to prepare athletes -- including those with severe or profound intellectual disability and significant physical disabilities -- for sport-specific activities appropriate for their ability levels.

The event started with the West SILC presenting the Ellie-Mae Potter memorial torch to NW SILC. The special Olympics oath was shared by a Pennyfields student pressing a Big Mac. We warmed up with a parachute game. All students came out to showcase their skills and gave it their all. We finished with a slow parachute cool down and presented participation medals.

LEEDS School Games Secondary Inclusive Cricket - Outdoor

DATE: 27th March 2017

SCHOOLS ENTERED: Swallow Hill, South SILC - Rodillian, East SILC -Temple Moor & Cardinal Heenan

The tournament was a major success with 4 schools competing throughout the day against one another.

The cricket on show was excellent with scores regularly clearing 250 runs!! And even the fielding sides taking at least 2 wickets per game.

The participants had the opportunity to enhance their skills beforehand with the help of the sports learning zone.

This provided opportunities to do diving catching, Hitting the stump and hitting balls of the Air tee. All with the use of cricket specific machinery.

All in all, the day was a major success! The Winners of this year’s event were Swallow Hill who will now go on to the County Finals to represent the Leeds area
